Mahonia pinnata (shiny-leaf mahonia, California mahonia, California barberry)
Color: Yellow
Description: Shrub, mounded. Blue berries with bloom on surface.
Where: Open spaces, rocky outcrops, steep grassy hills. Sometimes in open meadows or in the forest. Pt. Reyes.
Other: Eaten by deer. Berries are edible and used to make jelly.
